Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-09-23
This page describes what WeirdTrue stores about you and why. WeirdTrue is an early-stage, non-commercial project; we collect the minimum needed to run a public evidence record.
What we collect
- Account data: when you sign in with GitHub or Google, we store the name, email address, and avatar URL that provider returns, plus the provider's account identifier. We do not receive your password.
- Session data: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is required for signing in and is not used for tracking.
- Contributions: cases, claims, evidence, and verdict requests you submit, together with the time and your display name. These are public by design.
- Source snapshots: when you submit evidence, we fetch and store the text of the linked source so the evidence stays traceable if the source changes.
- Server logs: standard request logs kept by our hosting provider for reliability and abuse prevention.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no analytics trackers, no sale or sharing of personal data with data brokers.
- No third-party cookies.
Processors
We rely on these services to run the site. Each receives only what its role requires.
- Vercel (hosting and request logs) and Neon (database), both in the United States.
- GitHub and Google (sign-in). Their own privacy policies govern what they do on their side.
- Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (AI verdicts). The evidence text and claim text of a case are sent to the model when a verdict is requested. Your account data is not.
- The Internet Archive: when a source cannot be fetched directly, we read its archived copy.
Public record
Cases, evidence, and verdicts form a public, citable record. Your contributions appear under your display name and remain visible after you leave, because verdicts cite them. If you need a contribution removed for a legal or safety reason, contact us and we will assess it.
Your choices
- Sign out at any time; the session cookie is then invalidated.
- To export or delete your account data, or to ask any question about this policy, email support@centneo.com.
- You can revoke WeirdTrue's access from your GitHub or Google account settings.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and note the date above.
